Hey everyone,
I have a customer who we have been refilling their
HP 60 & 98 cartridges for the last 2 years now. There a small business and use quite a lot. They usually bring in around 10 black 60 & 4-6 98's at a time. I've tried to explain to them to buy the 60 "XL" version when they need to get an OEM in a hurry.
However, this time they bought 2
HP 60 black & 2
HP 98 cartridges from Staples in Tampa. Upon inspecting the 60's, I couldn't see any visable weld lines in the side of the cartridge to indicate they were the 1/3 sponge type. So, I decided to crack one open. To my suprise, I found a square sponge centered inside the cartridge. It doesn't get welded to the top of the cartridge either and doesn't touch the sides of the cartridge at all.
I took the sponge out, washed and dried it. I was only able to get 5.5ml black ink in it, max. If your not careful when filling these with the top on, you will fill up the vacant part of the cartridge before it flows out the refilling hole. Now, I'm wondering if it actually comes with 5 or 3ml of ink from
HP?
If you look at the pictures, the only thing I found in common with both of them was the "Y" at the end of the date. Also, there is only 4 months difference from the 1/3 sponge and the square one I found.
See next post for the 98's I found with the "Y" at the end of the date.
