QualityLogic and HP are back with more reports that claim to be a credible comparison of OEM to aftermarket cartridges on performance issues. The QualityLogic reports claim that 70 percent of refilled ink jet cartridges & 80 percent of remanufactured color toner cartridges are unreliable.

No More Independents in Ink?

The U.S. Supreme Court today rendered its ruling in favor of Illinois Tool Works and against Independent Ink in an 8-0 decision. The case now abrogates the presumption that a patent confers market power in tying arrangements.

The U.S. Postal Service Wants You

In an effort to create a national e-waste recycling program, the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) is looking to partner with one or more companies, and is initiating the program with nationwide collection of inkjet and toner cartridges. The program would be sweeping, as “USPS anticipates offering this national program through a combination, in the Postal Service’s discretion, of its approximately 38,000 retail locations, 300,000 collection boxes, and 290,000 letter carriers visiting over 139 million addresses 6 days per week...,” its Request For Information reads.
