The #@*!#*! office copier turns 50
Source: CNN.COM
It may be the most iconic piece of office equipment of the past half-century.
It has saved workers countless hours, spit out forests worth of documents, been cursed by anyone who's faced a paper jam on deadline and been used by office pranksters to copy body parts.
It's been immortalized in pop culture by Rob Schneider's "Saturday Night Live" skits -- "Ran-dyyy! The Rand-man! Randatollah! Making copies!" -- and by the secretaries of "Mad Men," who greet the 1962 arrival of the exotic new machine like a curiosity from another planet.
It's that aging plow horse of the workplace -- the much-used, much-maligned office copier, and it's 50 years old.

Butt seriously, copier paper turns into toilet rolls
Source: NEWS.CNET.COM
Never thought I'd see the day when I would be wiping my rear with used copier paper straight from an office machine. Butt seriously, thanks to Japanese ingenuity, this could soon be smart waste management, employed in corporate buildings to recycle all that paper we're guilty of overusing into toilet paper.
There's just one wee catch. Nakabayashi's pricey $95,000 office machine requires a whopping 72kg of discarded paper (159 pounds, or about 1,800 A4 sheets) to churn into just two rolls of (hopefully pliable) loo paper. At least you can now say you've cleaned your behind with your boss' memo.

Disastrous Times for the Copier Industry?
Source: OPENPR.COM
British companies selling and leasing Japanese manufactured goods have been forced to up their prices after negative GBP to Euro and Euro to Yen exchange rate trends worsen, forcing an increase in cost prices.
The GBP to Euro and Euro to Yen exchange rate has been causing serious problems for British companies purchasing Japanese manufactured products over recent months. A large majority of office photocopier and multifunctional device brands are manufactured in Japan, including, Ricoh, Fuji Xerox, Sharp, Konica Minolta, Kyocera Mita, Panasonic, Toshiba and Canon. Taking Canon as an example, it can be shown how much these exchange rates can affect photocopier costs.
