Kodak: Banking on the Consumer Printer
Source: PRINTERINKCARTRIDGESBLOG.PRINTCOUNTRY.COM

Kodak, just like any other company in any industry one might be able to think of, is experiencing rather challenging times. Among the things that it had to do is to suspend dividends and cut jobs, and while there are signs that things are taking a turn for the better, chances are a complete turnaround will not happen until 2011.

An article on the Wall Street Journal features conversation with Eastman Kodak Company head honcho Antonio Perez, where he touches on, among others, Kodak’s plans for weathering the storm and what they have on hand right now that may help them achieve their goals.

How Your Computer and Printer Can Lead You to the ER
Source: PRINTERINKCARTRIDGESBLOG.PRINTCOUNTRY.COM

What does having a home office and all the equipment that goes with it – something that is now more of a necessity than it once was – have to do with a visit to the Emergency Room?

Apparently, a lot. A report published yesterday in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine indicated that between 1994 and 2006, the number of visits to the hospital emergency room due to injuries from the use of computers and the other equipment attached to it – not the least of which are printers – increased sevenfold. Not surprisingly, most of these injuries occurred among children under 5, the demographic that also had the highest rate of increase.

Repair Old Printer or Buy New One?
Source: PRINTERINKCARTRIDGESBLOG.PRINTCOUNTRY.COM

Several years ago, it was considered a luxury to buy good quality printers. This has dramatically changed over time since printers are now quite affordable and most of them keep on adding new features. The question now is whether it makes sense to repair an old printer or just simply buy a new one.

6 Reasons Why HP`s Web-Connected Printer Will Fail
Source: CHANNELINSIDER.COM

Hewlett-Packard new Photosmart Premium with TouchSmart aims to decouple the printer from the personal computer and connect it directly to the Internet. The idea is to make printing of routine Web-based documents such as airline boarding passes, coupons and photos simple and efficient. But is the Web-connected printer an automatic hit? Don’t bet on it, particularly from a B2B channel perspective.

Here are six reasons the Photosmart is nothing to get excited over, and why it’s longterm future is likely limited.

Top Laser Printer Choices for Your Home
Source: PRINTERINKCARTRIDGESBLOG.PRINTCOUNTRY.COM

The reputation of the laser printer is that it is usually the printer of choice for organizations and offices; it will not most likely be the printer of choice for home use. Most homes prefer inkjet printers. However, due to the trend where homes are also doubling as offices, either due to the fact that people are operating businesses from their homes or that people are choosing to work from home, these laser printers are slowly finding its way into the home.

How to Buy a Dedicated Photo Printer
Source: PCMAG.COM

One of the more specialized classes of printers is the consumer-level dedicated photo printer. These printers are typically limited to a maximum paper size of 2 by 3, 4 by 6, or 5 by 7 inches (or panoramic variations on these sizes), but the category isn't defined just by its limits. Dedicated photo printers are relatively small and portable. They're also much less computer printers than they are standalone consumer electronics products, with an emphasis on ease of use. If you're in the market for one, here are the questions that will help you home in on the right choice.

Use Your Printer to Save Money
Source: PRINTERINKCARTRIDGESBLOG.PRINTCOUNTRY.COM

Some people regard the printer as a cost center, where anything that you do with it is to be treated as an expense. The moment you turn a printer on, it uses up energy, which means it adds up to your expenses in utilities. When you submit a print job, you have to feed paper into it, after which the machine will then print using ink.

Epson Stylus C84If you think about printers as this cash guzzler, then it certainly will be. However, printers do not necessarily need to be that way all the time; talk about glass half-empty and glass-half full. If we think about the printer in a positive light, then we certainly can use the printer for tasks that, while bringing you expenses, can also help you save a few dollars along the way. This way, the printer may very well end up paying for itself. Remember, the printer is but a machine, and what it is able to bring to the table is very much up to you – the owner.
